Governikus from Bremen acquires the eID solution AusweisIDent and thereby expands its market position in the field of digital identities. AusweisIDent enables online identification via ID card and is used by companies for verification processes. The acquisition is another sign of ongoing consolidation in the German eID market, where providers are increasingly merging after years of fragmented individual solutions. Governikus operates, among other things, the state eID infrastructure and is thus already a central player in the market.
